Hometown: Alpena, MIBrandon joined the CGHA in 2015 and enjoys the camaraderie he’s found in Chicago and during national and international travel tournaments. He was elected to the CGHA Board in 2017 and has been an integral part of many events including the 2022 CGHA Market Days Classic and Hot Jock Contest fundraisers. His birthday wish? A Lululemon + CGHA collaboration.

Hometown: Red Deer, AB, CANDespite growing up in Canada, Ty never learned to play hockey until he found the CGHA when he moved to Chicago in 2015. Through the years and with many thanks to the practices, scrimmages, and on-the-bench coaching from his fellow teammates, Ty not only learned to play the game of his homeland, but he's become a confident skater who enjoys playing with various skill levels and returning the favour he was afforded as the CGHA continues to flourish with new folks joining every year! Ty has also volunteered for the last two rounds of CGHA board elections as an independent Election Monitor/Facilitator. Off the ice, Ty enjoys spending time with his two dogs, his chosen family, and tinkering with technology.

Ryan Chung

Hometown: Visalia, CARyan joined the CGHA in 2024 and it remains the best decision he's ever made. After falling in love with hockey during grad school, Ryan started learning hockey in the Johnny's Icehouse Hockey 101/102/103 adult classes. The CGHA has provided him an amazing community of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies on and off the ice. Feel free to reach out to him about how to get into the sport.

Hometown: New YorkKevin began playing hockey with the Madison Gay Hockey Association before moving to Chicago and joining CGHA. His hobbies include knitting, quilting, painting, and anything that involves a hot glue gun.

Zack Dessent

Hometown: Niles, ILZack joined CGHA in June 2024 after a 14-year break from hockey and has been having the time of his life ever since. His favorite part about returning has been the friendships, the team camaraderie, and just having fun on the ice — whether he’s playing or shrieking from the bench like a very supportive pterodactyl. If he’s not doing something hockey-related or working, he’s busy being a single mom who works two jobs (his dog is named Reba).

Shelby Domabyl-Deiters

Hometown: Brookfield, ILA lifelong hockey fan, Shelby dove into the game when her son started skating at age 2. She found her home with CGHA in early 2024 and has considered them family ever since. Now, as CGHA’s resident queer hockey mom, she’s dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming space for all players. Off the ice, Shelby serves as CGHA’s Secretary and Director of Community Outreach. When she’s not playing, coaching, or capturing the game through her camera lens, she’s spending time with my family—exploring wildlife or at the rink.

Hometown: Chicago, ILElliot joined the CGHA in 2017. After playing hockey his entire life, he was looking for a community within which to continue playing after college. The CGHA provided him not only with an open and safe space to play hockey, but with lifelong friends to share the joy of hockey!

Hometown: Norwich, VTChris has played hockey his entire life, but has had the most fun playing these past few years with the CGHA. Off the ice, his passions include roof decks and socializing with friends and fans for a post-game après-skate beer and popcorn at The Stanley Club at Johnny’s Icehouse.

Hometown: Bellefontaine, OHJake first put on ice skates in September of 2023, and since then has been an active member of CGHA's developmental teams. He's loving the new friendships and challenges that have come with starting a new sport. When he's not out trying to practice skating, Jake enjoys gardening, video games, and entertaining at home with his husband.

Rachel Hogan

Hometown: Williamstown, MARachael grew up playing hockey and started playing with CGHA in the fall of 2024. She couldn't be happier to have found CGHA to not only scratch her athletic competitive itch, but most importantly to be surrounded by all the amazing people who are part of this community. Off the ice, she spends a lot of time trying to tire out her 1 year old black lab, Oslo.

Brian Hull

Hometown: Plymouth, MIBrian has been a CGHA player since 2010 — after he saw the CGHA with the Stanley Cup in the Pride Parade — and served on the Board of Directors for 14 years. His favorite CGHA memories include playing games at the United Center, Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, Nationwide Arena in Columbus, and many times at the old Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Way too many incredible tournaments and social events to list out, but the best part of CGHA are all the dear friends he's made over the years.

Hometown: Chicago, ILSimon started playing hockey in Auckland, New Zealand after seeing Hasek play for the Red Wings in Detroit. Simon played for the first inclusive Ice Hockey team in Australia — the Southern Lights, before moving to Chicago in 2024 and joining the CGHA.

Hometown: South Bend, INTyler have been playing hockey since he was four years old. After taking a few years break from hockey during undergrad, he decided to join CGHA in June of 2024. He is so happy that he joined and has already made so many friends with similar interests and hobbies. Off the ice, he enjoys being with friends, playing video games or trying new restaurants in the city.

Hometown: Lake Villa, ILGina has been playing hockey for 24 years and has been with the CGHA since 2015/16 and has been a member of the CGHA Board of Directors since 2021. Gina loves the dynamic and structure of our teams combined with the robust social component/events. Hands down one of the most inclusive and all encompassing teams she’s had the honor of playing with.

Hometown: Pittsburgh PAGeo is a lifelong hockey player who joined the CGHA immediately upon moving to Chicago in 2024. A favorite memory so far is traveling to Eagle River, WI to play pond hockey with the CGHA crew.

Hometown: Greenwood, INMcKenna joined the CGHA Spring of 2023. When he is not playing hockey, he is off doing geeky things with his friends or playing in one of the many queer sports leagues Chicago has to offer. He is a firm believer that “the ‘Monster Mash’ is the greatest song of all time.

Hometown: Grand Rapids, MIDylan has been skating since the age of five and loves to travel, workout, and be outside as much as he can. He loves trying new restaurants and cocktail bars (with a special fondness for dirty martinis). His hobbies include photography and anything artsy — and hockey!

Hometown: New Milford, CTScott's involvement with the CGHA began in 2010, when he first laced up his skates and joined the organization. From the very beginning, he felt the warmth of the CGHA community in the heart of Chicago and beyond. The bonds he formed with fellow players during games and the friendships that grew quickly became an integral part of his life.

Hometown: Boston, MAHockey has been a part of Paige’s life since she was three years old, shaping her journey from Boston to a dual-sport college career in ice hockey and field hockey. The camaraderie and community of the game have always meant the most to her, and playing in the CGHA reminded her why she fell in love with hockey in the first place. Off the ice (and she’s not pronouncing her “R”s), she enjoys exploring new restaurants and spending time with her dog, Goose-Nacho.

Woody Parker

Hometown: Kansas City, MOIn second grade, Woody agreed to start playing hockey, but only if his dad agreed to coach his soccer team… 31 years later, he’s given up soccer and is still waiting for his dad to start coaching. Woody joined CGHA in 2022 after playing as a free agent in the Chicago Market Days Classic. He looks forward to being on the ice with the different teams as much as the socializing off the ice. He’s enjoyed the new friendships that CGHA has fostered. When not on the ice, you’ll find him [still] cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks with his husband and Cindy, their dog.

Hometown: Buffalo, NYAlex joined CGHA in 2018 after only learning to play hockey the year prior. At CGHA, Alex found a welcoming hockey community that provided encouragement, advice, and friendship. Off the ice, Alex is often hiking in remote mountains or working on his goal to visit all the US presidential libraries and grave sites.

Hometown: Chicago, ILSierra has played hockey for her whole life, and she's tried just about all of it: forward, defense, coach, ref, even angry spectator. Just not goalie — yet. She spends most of her free time at the gym or a Sox game, or getting halfway through a new book before giving up on it.

Hometown: Detroit, MIAndrew served as President of the Chicago Gay Hockey Association from 2010 to 2024. His favorite memories include marching in the annual Chicago Pride Parade — including two appearance with the Stanley Cup in 2010 and 2015. Outside of the rink, you’ll find Andrew gardening or enjoying his obscene LEGO collection.

Hometown: Chicago, ILEric has been playing hockey for about 8 years, starting his hockey journey at the Fifth Third Arena's adult beginners classes to now proudly playing for the CGHA. Off the ice, Eric enjoys building and painting model figurines, jam sessions with his basement band, and copious amounts of video games.

Andi Vertz

Hometown: WisconsinAndi has been playing hockey on and off since they were 18, and while still mastering the basics (like staying upright and attempting to catch a pass), they bring plenty of energy and volume (especially volume) to the game. Andi officially joined CGHA in 2024 with the creation of the Developmental team and immediately became obsessed. Off the ice, they’re passionate about making hockey accessible to LGBTQ+ adults who didn’t get the chance to play growing up and can’t wait to be a part of CGHA’s continued growth.
Outside of hockey, Andi’s calendar is kept full with social outings or remodeling their new house—because who needs sleep?

Travis Woodworth

Hometown: Grand Rapids, MITravis first joined the CGHA for outdoor league in 2022, and has since become a more active member of the team; even most recently participating as a contestant in the 2023 Hot Jock Contest. Outside of hockey you may find him on tour performing standup at comedy clubs/theaters (Travis Spotts on stage if you must know), at a concert/music festival, or just out with friends enjoying the Chicago nightlife.
